日本語で「観点」という用語は、英語では何て言うのだろう。
英語では、「point of view」を使う。例えば、「私の意見では」と言う場合、「in my opinion」でもいいが、「from my point of view」という言い方もできる。
今回は、「観点」の英語表現、その英語の意味、「point」を使った他の英語表現を紹介したい。

「point of view」の意味
Longman 辞書によると、「point of view」の意味は以下のとおり。
point of view:
・a particular way of thinking about or judging a situation
(状況についての特定の考え方または判断方法)・someone’s own personal opinion or attitude about something
(特定のことについての個人的な意見や態度 )

◯ point out：指摘する
He pointed out that there was a difference between the two.
(彼は、２つの間には違いがあると指摘した)
◯ to the point：的を得た
Her comments were brief and to the point.
(彼女のコメントは、簡潔で、要領を得たものだった)
◯ beside the point：見当外れの
That’s beside the point.
(それは、的外れだよ)
◯ There’s no point in ～：～する意味はない
There’s no point in doing that.
(それをする意味はないんじゃないかな)
