【使える英語表現】日本語の「連絡を取る」は英語で何て言う？

日本語では、よく「連絡を取る」という言い方をするが、英語で何と言うのだろう。

通常は、「contact」などの英語を思い浮かべるが、口語表現でよく使われるのが「get in touch」。もちろん、get の代わりに、「stay in touch」「keep in touch」「be in touch」(連絡を保つ) のような形でも使用される。

今回は、「連絡を取る」の英語表現、その英語の意味、「get」を使用した他の英語表現を紹介したい。

「連絡を取る」の英語表現

～と連絡を取る：get in touch with

You can get in touch with me around 10 am tomorrow.
(明日の午前10時頃なら連絡が取れます)

Longman 辞書によると、「in touch」の意味は以下のとおり。

in touch: in a state in which people communicate with each other especially by calling or writing to each other
(特に電話や手紙でお互いコミュニケーションをとっている状態)

○ get on：乗る

I have to get on the bus first thing in the morning.
(朝一番に、バスに乗らないといけないんだ)

○ get off：降りる

Let me get off here.
(ここで、降ろしてください)

○ get to：行く

Would you tell me how to get to the station ?
(駅に行く方法を教えてくれませんか)

○ get into：入学する、入会する

I got into college when I was 19.
(19歳のとき、大学に入学した)

○ get down to：取り掛かる

Let’s get down to business.
(仕事に取り掛かろう)
